Coursera began using RingCentral early on and has since experienced significant growth. RingCentral has helped simplify things for the IT team by providing phones that are pre-configured and by making administrative tasks easily accessible. Unlike an on-premise PBX system, RingCentral gives Vu Truong, IT Manager, and his colleagues the freedom to manage their phone system internally, rather than relying on external technicians for maintenance and system changes.

Modern Communications

Coursera is taking a modern approach to communications and does not provide a desk phone to each employee. This saves money and fits the needs of their mobile workforce. With RingCentral, users can be issued phone numbers that are not associated with any physical phones. They have the option to use the Softphone or the RingCentral Phone to send or receive calls, send business SMS messages, and access call logs and voicemails.

“Getting an employee set up with RingCentral is very quick and easy,” says Truong. “Our employees are all currently in one office, but if anyone ever needed to set up a home office or work remotely, it would be a simple process.”

The Perks of Having All-Inclusive Service

RingCentral has also helped Truong and his fellow IT team members by unifying communications services. Prior to using RingCentral, Coursera relied on several third-party services to meet their various communications needs. RingCentral provides several features that help Truong and his colleagues with both cost and time management. “It’s great that RingCentral includes so many features—it’s a one-stop shop,” he says. “We no longer need third-party services for things like faxing and long-distance calling.”
