Rolling out the old system
Bowman Trailer Leasing is headquartered in Maryland, has 32 locations through out the East Coast and has a majority of its employees working remotely. It was at headquarters that employees started to have problems with the company’s old Avaya PBX system.
More than 30 employees were attempting to share 16 voicemail boxes. None of the employees had direct lines. And if those issues weren’t enough, getting technicians to service the PBX was difficult to schedule and expensive.

Eliminating individual PBX systems for each of its 32 locations was just the beginning of the company’s cost savings.
Bowman Trailer Leasing now uses RingCentral’s auto-receptionist feature for its central 800 number to transfer customers to the appropriate extensions, keeping customer wait times short. Prior to RingCentral, an expensive third-party dispatcher was used to answer these calls after normal business hours.
Bowman Trailer Leasing was also able to eliminate all traditional fax lines. Staff in the accounting department were particularly happy about faxing via RingCentral because it allows them to keep copies for their records. “Our total phone bill savings since switching to RingCentral will be at least $95,000 a year,” Mullan says.
