Predictions from all corners of the professional world are in: work is going hybrid. This brings up two questions: what is hybrid work, and what does it mean for your technology?
Hybrid work is a new approach towards work that allows employees to split their time between the office and home. For example, an employee might work in the office three days a week while spending the rest at home. Others might choose their own schedules entirely.
And when it comes to hybrid work, businesses will lean into their collaboration tools more than ever. Workers will increasingly communicate over messaging, video, and phone calls as colleagues can be anywhere at any time.
New phone features | April 2021
But while messaging and video are undoubtedly essential, phone calls are still the preferred method of communication. It makes sense, too. How many times have you needed a quick response only to end up waiting hours or days?
That’s why we’re continuing to innovate new calling features and make collaboration even easier for you. Check out our latest additions below:
1. Primary number
For various reasons, users might have more than one direct number to their phones. But their primary number might be inconsistent across all endpoints—their desktop app, mobile app, Admin Portal, etc.
The new primary number feature allows users or admins to set a primary phone number that displays consistently across your entire RingCentral ecosystem.
2. Shared voicemail
Whether it’s the front-desk staff at a doctor’s office or a customer feedback line, there are scenarios where multiple people may need to access a common voicemail account as part of their everyday responsibilities. For organizations that need voicemail storage and access to be tied to job function—rather than accessed only by specific, named individuals—we’re unveiling shared voicemail.
Shared voicemail allows organizations to designate multiple users as co-recipients for voicemail, improving team efficiency and communication. With shared common voice mailboxes, messages can be listened to, saved, or deleted by any user who is added as a co-recipient.
3. Enterprise portal for Federated Accounts
We’re making it easy for enterprise companies and businesses with 45,000+ users to manage their accounts and users.
The new enterprise portal provides clear, consolidated visibility and admin functionality at the highest level. From a single pane, administrators will now be able provision, manage, and search across all of their RingCentral accounts.
4. Heads-up display (open beta)
Previously only available in RingCentral Phone, we’ve extended heads-up display (HUD) functionality to the RingCentral desktop app.
With heads-up display, you can manage extension lists, monitor, and delegate calls right from your desktop. See your team members’ availability, and route calls to the right employee at the right time.
Powerful calling with RingCentral
At RingCentral, we’re dedicated to providing state-of-the-art features that make managing communications simpler, more effective and more convenient—and that includes our focus on phone capabilities.
