A Summer at RingCentral: My Journey as an HR Intern
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at RingCentral as part of the Summer RingTern Program, a 10-week experience that blends hands-on work with a vibrant, collaborative environment. The moment I came across the job listing, I was drawn to RingCentral’s innovative culture and its leadership in cloud-based communications. After a thorough interview process, I was thrilled to join a program that promised not only professional growth but also a summer filled with fun networking activities and valuable mentorship.
It was a privilege to be part of a company that invests in its interns and fosters an environment of growth, innovation, and support. This internship was more than just a learning experience—it was a pivotal step in my career.
Immersing in the RingCentral Experience
RingCentral’s office environment was welcoming and motivating, I loved coming into the office! My role as an HR Programs intern involved supporting and coordinating a wide range of projects, including university recruiting, employee branding, and organizing offsite events for interns. I collaborated on social media content to boost brand awareness and recruitment efforts, and made updates on the RingCentral HRIS platform, giving me a comprehensive view of HR operations.

The Highlight: DISRUPT Innovation Challenge
The DISRUPT Innovation Challenge was a defining moment of my internship. At the start of the program, interns were grouped into teams to come up with an innovative product or feature that enhances RingCentral’s product suite. Encouraged to think creatively, we worked cross-functionally across multiple offices to create a detailed product pitch, covering everything from market research and design mockups to financial planning and go-to-market strategies. As part of this annual challenge, I led a team of seven interns in developing a new product concept for RingCentral to be presented to a panel of experts. Our hard work paid off when we were named the winning team! This project gave us invaluable insights into the scope of different job roles; experience working cross-functionally to balance different skill sets, time zones, and ideas.
Mentorship and Key Takeaways
Mentorship played a crucial role in my RingCentral experience. The company’s strong emphasis on connecting interns with experienced professionals helped me expand my skill set and network. My Employee Resource Group mentor, along with our DISRUPT Challenge mentors, provided invaluable guidance and support throughout the summer. Reflecting on my time at RingCentral, I’ve gained a stronger understanding of the corporate world, developed practical skills, and built lasting connections. It was a privilege to be part of a company that invests in its interns and fosters an environment of growth, innovation, and support. This internship was more than just a learning experience—it was a pivotal step in my career, equipping me with the tools and confidence to succeed in the future.
