We’re geographically distributed and have complex needs from a telephony standpoint–including the need to meet regulatory compliance in different world regions. I’ve researched the landscape of major UCaaS providers, and RingCentral is the only one capable of delivering the truly global, rock-solid communications solution we need.

A global business in need of a global communications solution

As a growing organisation adding locations around the world, Mastech Digital faced a few IT challenges specific to its expansion.
CIO and CISO Philippe Bourdon explains, for example, that because the company didn’t have a global telecom platform, they needed to operate different, decentralised solutions from vendors in each region. But the big challenge, he adds, was meeting the unique government-compliance demands of their large India operation.
“India has its own big set of regulatory demands for IT communications, both for phones and for SMS texting,” Philippe says. “In addition to its poor call quality and frequent dropped calls, the local VoIP system our team used in the country also couldn’t help us with these regulatory approvals.”
Fortunately, in his previous role–running IT infrastructure for a $30 billion enterprise–Philippe had developed a working relationship with technology consulting firm LivTech, Inc. That’s where he discovered RingCentral RingEX, which he knew had the global UCaaS capabilities his new, rapidly expanding organisation needed.
“I called our partners at LivTech and once again they helped my team customise a plan and agreement with RingCentral to power all of Mastech Digital’s telecommunications around the world. And this was the second time RingCentral proved a lifesaver for my organisation.”
Of all the benefits I knew from previous experience that we’d get from migrating to RingEX, I still worried about the compliance work we’d have to do for our large India team. But to my pleasant surprise, this deployment took care of that as well. I think RingCentral is the only UCaaS provider in the world that has all the regulatory approvals to operate business telephony in India. What a relief that was.

An implementation so uneventful, only IT experts can appreciate it

As Philippe points out, several factors influenced his decision to migrate his entire company on Global RingEX, including system stability, cost savings, and the ability to consolidate several other IT services with RingCentral.
But RingCentral’s ease of deployment, which he had experienced in his previous role, proved the deciding factor.
“The remarkable thing about each of the RingCentral products I’ve implemented is the ease of setup, staff training, and onboarding new employees into the system. I think from signing the agreement to our full RingEX deployment across all our international offices took fewer than 90 days–and less than 10 days to deploy RingEX to our entire India operation.”

Consolidating services, streamlining workflows

Another benefit of deploying Global RingEX, Philippe explains, is the ability to move so many of the staff’s workflows into their RingCentral environment–both by switching from other platforms and integrating their existing apps with RingEX.
RingEX saves us time across the organisation in many ways, but here’s one great example. Because we couldn’t self-provision numbers with our old VoIP system, we had to submit requests each time to the vendor, and the process averaged four hours. Now, we can go into the RingCentral platform and do it ourselves–and it takes one minute.

Quality up, costs down

Philippe notes that as his technology began making the relevant IT adjustments after implementing RingEX–such as removing legacy telephony hardware–they’ve observed two positive trends: phone service and quality going up, and costs coming down.
As for quality, Philippe says the improvement for the company’s large India teams has been enormous. “In India, they’re all raving about RingCentral. The quality of the calls are 100% better than with our previous telecom system there, and the number of dropped calls has fallen by 30%.”
“Our India RingEX implementation led immediately to about a 50% cost savings over what we paid for our previous VoIP system in the region,” he says. In fact, Philippe says, this is just one way that RingEX has cut Mastech Digital’s telecom costs.
“After the international deployment, my team removed almost everyone’s desk phone because now everyone can use the RingEX softphone and a headset. That change–which will affect every new hire we bring onboard–is going to save us about 75% in phone hardware over time.”
Finally, Philippe says, consolidating Mastech Digital’s video conferencing service from a separate vendor to RingEX will also prove a significant cost-cutting measure.
We’ve got more than 1,000 people with their own paid licences to our video and messaging solution. As we move them all onto the RingEX platform for their messaging and video calls, that migration alone will save us a lot every year. Everywhere I look, I see opportunities for RingCentral to save our organisation money.

Looking to the future

As much value as Mastech Digital’s employees are deriving from the RingEX capabilities Philippe’s team has already implemented, he points out that they have several additional near-term plans for improving other workflows with RingEX.
“Our first big IT consolidation will be eliminating licences for our current messaging and video platform, because RingEX has those capabilities built in. After that, my team has already identified major RingCentral integrations with key apps we use every day–including Google Drive, HubSpot, and Bullhorn.”
Additionally, Philippe and his team are anticipating more workflow improvements by implementing RingCentral’s built artificial intelligence engine, RingCentral AI Assistant.
I’m looking forward to leveraging RingCentral AI Assistant to simplify personal productivity and provide real-time intelligence for us to optimise our teams and win more. I fully expect the AI capabilities, combined with the RingCentral app integrations we plan to roll out soon, to streamline many of our departments’ workflows and add at least another 20% efficiency to our organisation.
